Rocheskey’s Keys to Drive offers you the services you need in order to obtain a learners permit at 16. They will provide you will a free ride to the MVC in order to take your written test.* Then after 6 hours of behind the wheel training with Keys to Drive, you will have a validated permit to practice driving for at least 6 months before your road test. You will also have the chance to schedule your road test at the MVC. You will learn necessary skills for the road test in order to comply with the MVC. You will practice all the items that will be on the road test, as follows:

Rocheskey’s Keys to Drive will work around your schedule in order to help making learning to drive less of a hassle on you. We provide door to door service which means we will pick you up in our car and drop you back off at no extra charge! You can expect our cars to be dual-controlled, air-conditioned, clean, and well maintained. Plus, Keys to Drive is currently the only driving school in the area to have cars equipped with a backup camera, which is now allowed for the test!

*the first trip to the MVC is free, extra trips will be provided at an extra charge

The Early Bird Road

GDL requirement and restrictions
For drivers ages 16 and up, MVC offers a three-phase process:

· Student learner's permit (minimum six months of supervised driving)

· Probationary license (minimum one year of restricted but unsupervised driving)

· Basic driver license (must be 18 years old)

Get a student learner's permit

· Visit an MVC Agency that offers Driver Testing Services with a licensed driving instructor

· Pass the knowledge test. You can study by reading MVC's Driver Manual

· Pass the vision test

· Bring a primary ID (Certified copy U.S. birth certificate with an offical seal, Unexpired US Passport, US Department of State birth certificate, US adoption papers, certificate of naturalization or certificate of citizenship)

· Show proof of enrollment in a driver training course

· Present a signed letter with parental or guardian consent

· Pay fee

· An approved course is six full hours of behind-the-wheel instruction in a dual-controlled vehicle. These hours are exclusive of time spent at the MVC for permit purchasing or testing. The instructor must purchase the permit, which is valid for two years.

· Upon successful completion of an approved Driving School six hour behind-the-wheel course, the student learner must return to an MVC Agency, offering Driver Testing Services, to have their permit validated and to schedule their Road Test appointment. The permit must be validated prior to any supervised practice driving. 

· If you are under the age of 21, your permit must be validated for 6 months prior to taking your road test.

· Permits are valid for two years and must be carried when operating a vehicle

· If your permit is lost or stolen, you must purchase a duplicate permit. A duplicate permit can be purchased by the parent/guardian of a 16 year old driver if the mandatory six (6) hours behind the wheel training was complete and the original permit was validated.

Practice supervised driving for at least six months
You must observe the following restrictions during the supervised driving period:

· Display a reflectorized decal on each license plate (front/back); decals available at motor vehicle agencies, $4 per pair

· No driving after 11:01 p.m. and before 5:00 a.m.

· You must be accompanied in the front seat by an adult supervising driver who is at least 21 years of age and who possesses a valid New Jersey driver license and has a minimum of three years driving experience

· Parent(s), guardian(s) or dependent(s) are allowed as passengers. A dependent is a permit or probationary driver's child, not siblings

· Only one additional passenger is allowed unless accompanied by a parent or guardian

· You can't use cell phones, hand held video games or any other hands-free interactive, wireless communication device

· Seat belts must be worn at all times
